Fronius multi-circuit battery charging system with integrated FireCAN
31.05.2010
Fronius will be presenting the new Acctiva Twin 15A at this year's Interschutz 2010. This multi-circuit battery charging system is ideal for in-vehicle applications and guarantees continuous operational readiness, even after a prolonged period of inactivity. In addition to intelligent electronics, the system also boasts an optional FireCAN interface, developed together with leading fire engine manufacturers.
Fronius will be unveiling its latest addition to the Acctiva product range at the leading international trade fair for the rescue, fire prevention, disaster relief, safety and security sectors at the beginning of June.
The Acctiva Twin 15A is the ideal multi-circuit battery charging system for in-vehicle use. Two charging circuits allow different charge states to balanced when setting up a 24 V vehicle electrical supply (consisting of two 12 V batteries). This is possible even if the two batteries are working under significantly different loads from 12 V and 24 V consumers. Acctiva Twin can also be used to charge different combinations of battery.
Product features
- Pre-programmed charging characteristic guarantees the optimal charging current for the capacity and state of the battery.
- Automatic 12 V / 24 V battery voltage detection
- Charge status, fault and start/stop shown on LED display
- 100% safety for battery, vehicle and on-board electronics
- Compact, robust design and plug-in charging and mains leads permit simple installation in any vehicle
- Automatic 12 V / 24 V battery voltage detection
- 96% energy efficiency
FireCAN
This communication interface is the ideal way of connecting the battery charging system to the vehicle's central communication system.
FireCAN is a system for electronic applications in fire engines that can incorporate manufacturer-specific components. These components can be controlled and monitored from a standard user interface. As part of the Acctiva Twin battery charging system, FireCAN has a data transfer role and is active when the system is in driving, standby and charging modes.
The Acctiva Twin multi-circuit battery charging system is the only system with a FireCAN communication interface. Utilising this technology means the battery charging system can be operated from the central vehicle control panel, while device status, battery voltage and fault diagnosis can all be determined. The integrated fault memory stores the ten most recently encountered faults (possible fault events: reverse polarity, short circuit, battery fault, charging fault). More information to FireCAN can be found here: www.firecan.info
Further Options
Besides FireCAN, the Acctiva Twin is also equipped with a floating contact for data transfer purposes.
Optional extras for the Acctiva Twin include a USB interface for software updates as well as a temperature-controlled charging feature.
Acctiva Twin is the ideal solution for emergency and commercial vehicles. Other potential applications include boats or caravans with more than one battery.
