Fronius presents Acctiva battery charging systems at Automechanika 2012

Sophisticated battery processes

18.07.2012

Wels (Austria) – July 2012 – Anyone who heads off to a VW workshop in a Golf, Touran, Eos or Passat expects a professional job and first-class support - regardless of whether the workshop is in Munich, on the Baltic coast or somewhere else abroad. With this in mind, Volkswagen has laid down uniform workshop standards for servicing. High-quality workshop equipment also plays a key role. VW relies on Fronius quality to provide sophisticated battery processes using workshop battery charging systems. Find out what this means in practice at this year's Automechanika. On stand G 66 in Hall 8, Fronius will draw on the example of Volkswagen to provide an overview of the important role now played by battery charging systems and power supplies.

Battery charging systems from the Volkswagen OEM range: VAS 5901A, VAS 5903, VAS 5906 and VAS 5900A.

According to Harald Scherleitner, head of the Battery Charging Systems division at Fronius, the demands being placed on vehicle batteries are increasing all the time. "Our battery charging systems take account of this trend, so we are able to offer a range of products and solutions for a wide variety of tasks." Fronius battery charging systems are reliable and provide a stable power supply in the workshop, during servicing and in the dealership, irrespective of whether it's for a vehicle diagnosis, checking of the battery during an inspection or a vehicle presentation.

The Fronius solutions implemented at Volkswagen and on display at Automechanika show how they facilitate work processes and also protect workshops from financial damage. "For example, failing to ensure that there is a constant and reliable power supply during flashing increases the risk of damaging the control units and having to replace them."

Systems from the Acctiva series, which have been designed for a range of applications and can even be combined, will be on display on the Fronius stand. These include the Acctiva Professional Flash, Acctiva Professional 35A and Acctiva Seller battery charging systems - all of which have been approved by numerous automotive groups. Also on the stand will be the OEM versions produced for Volkswagen, such as the VAS 5901A, VAS 5903, VAS 5906 and VAS 5900A. In addition to their visual differences, the VAS versions differ technically from the Fronius Acctiva battery charging systems in terms of their software and hardware.

Various sales partners are also looking closely at sophisticated process solutions for batteries and power supplies, so original Fronius products (e.g. Förch) and other OEM versions (e.g. Würth) will also be present.

Safe and saves time

"We see ourselves as 'troubleshooters' for car dealerships and service companies, and therefore for the automotive groups behind them as well," explains Harald Scherleitner. The optimised work processes relating to battery charging and power supplies to which VW, for example, has committed its dealerships and service companies not only provide security for the companies, they also save time and consequently money.

Harald Scherleitner notes that the number of complaints about batteries and warranty cases in recent years has fallen markedly. "The optimisation of the charging process and power supply in the workshop that we set out to achieve has also contributed", he suggests, "and this in turn has a positive impact on customer satisfaction levels."

The huge number of potential applications reflects the extent to which battery charging has grown in importance as a subject. Fronius solutions are used in the showroom when handing over vehicles to customers, during diagnosis, software updates, servicing or when maintaining storage batteries.

Numerous automotive groups have already been won over by the battery charging systems, as they are easy to use, technically safe and of reliable quality. Among the reasons for this is that Fronius, thanks to its high-quality development department, will still be able to support its customers in the future with technically mature and modern systems and support them in the field of energy-saving technology, for instance. After all, the battery of the future will still have to be charged properly. "And that's what we specialise in", adds Harald Scherleitner.
