Solar Campus Energie AG Oberösterreich

With an output of 1 megawatt, Austria's largest solar power plant, the "Solar Campus der Energie AG", has been feeding the equivalent of more than 1,100 megawatt hours of green electricity a year into the Energie AG public grid since May 2010. With a collector area of approx. 8,000 m², the photovoltaic power plant is about the size of two football fields.

The collector area as a whole employs a mix of permanently positioned panels and six trackers. Differences in generating capacity are evidenced by the five different panel types attached to the fixed supports. Most of the panels installed in the testing ground are manufactured using future-oriented thin-layer module technology. Variations in capacity are also evident when these panels are compared with the more conventional PV modules. Energie AG solar power experts are now awaiting feedback about the effects of weather conditions, component ageing, service life and variations in power output caused by the natural soiling of the collector surfaces.
