Delegates from around the world will make their way to Copenhagen for the United Nations climate change conference that is being held between December 7th and 18th 2009. Their aim is to draw up a new agreement on climate change that will come into effect after 2012. The world has to make a momentous decision - will we go down the path to global warming, or will we choose the Earth? Our planet must not be allowed to warm up by more than two degrees, otherwise between 20 and 30% of all global plant and animal species will be placed under threat. A new movement emerged in Sydney, Australia, in 2007 with the "Earth Hour", when lights were symbolically switched off for sixty minutes. 2.2 million people switched off their lights, and in the process set a new marker in the fight against climate change. This marker has become a global movement - just twelve months later, 50 million people in 400 cities switched off their lights as a symbol of hope that the planet can be saved. The climate change movement is continuing its fight with the "Vote Earth" referendum. Cast your vote at http://www.voteearth.at/fronius and make your mark in combating climate change. The international WWF climate team will hand over all the signatures gathered from around the globe to the delegates in Copenhagen.
