CMT conquers China
30.08.2007
Yíng! A warm (welcome!) was extended to visitors to this year’s "Beijing Essen Welding & Cutting" trade fair, which was held for the first time in Shanghai from the 19th to the 22nd June. Despite numerous other exhibitors, Fronius’s sensational CMT (cold metal transfer) technology again enabled them to be the centre of attention, even in the "Middle Kingdom" of China.
The Chinese market is expanding and increasing in importance as far as welding technology is concerned. This is evidenced by the 2,000 or so native producers of welding equipment and the large number of visitors – a market with potential that needs to be exploited.
Fronius’s appearance at this fair bodes well for the future. Fronius and Cowin, its distributor, shared a 60m² stand on two levels. Fronius attracted visitors with two CMT systems on the robot and first-class demonstrations of aluminium light-gauge sheet, steel/aluminium and CrNi. CMT could even be experienced "right in front of your eyes": On the Fronius welding table aluminium and steel joins were demonstrated and sheets were cut using the TransCut 300 plasma cutting device. Some visitors even brought their own welding material with them and were fascinated by the low-spatter welding of light-gauge sheets.
Another highlight was the giant LCD screen, on which the Fronius Xplorer software was demonstrated. But that’s not all. There were also red sparks flying on some of the welding automation stands where Fronius MIG and TIG devices were being used.
