Thailand: A country undergoing change – and Fronius is there

Thailand is a country with a culture and traditions that go back centuries. At the same time, the country’s infrastructure is undergoing immense changes, from an agrarian economy to an industrial and tourism economy. Austria has been involved with and supported these transformations for 40 years now.

Austrian know-how: very much in demand in Thailand
In 1968, the Thai Austrian Technical College (TATC) was founded in the Sattahip province, approx. 150 km southeast of Bangkok. Austria contributes expert knowledge, teacher training, know-how and technical equipment to this project. In the mid-90s, the original technical school was upgraded to a technical college, again with support from Austria.

The TATC currently offers excellent technical training and degree courses for approx. 4000 students. These highly-sought-after graduates then take the good reputation of Austrian technical knowledge with them to their future employers.

Fronius donates PV system to support research & development
Fronius has given the Thai Austrian Technical College a complete 3 kW PV system for research and presentation purposes. This will provide both instructors as well as students access to the know-how and products of Fronius. In the long term, this should promote ecological awareness for renewable energy sources and resource conservation as well as help to accelerate market development in this area.

Fronius supplied the Fronius IG 30 PV inverter, and the required solar modules came from the Austria company KIOTO.
All other components required for the installation as well as the assembly and installation work onsite was contributed by the Thai company Leonics Co., Ltd.

Official handover celebration
 The photovoltaic system was officially handed over in a ceremony on Jan 30 2008. The celebration included numerous distinguished guests, representatives from the local media as well as Manfred Köppl representing Fronius.

The various speeches recognized the donation and emphasized the importance of projects of this kind. At the same time, the desire was expressed to continue to promote such successful, bilateral cooperation in the future.
