Acctiva Twin 15A used at Emergency One

20.10.2011

The Firecan Interface and the intelligent charging Process of the Acctiva Twin 15a lead Emergency One to Fronius Charging Technology.

After detailed product testing, the british manufacturer of emergency vehicles decided to install the Acctiva Twin 15A with integrated FireCan Interface into their vehicles. Emergency One is a manufacturer of fire-fighting vehicles. It produces around 100 special vehicles each year in the town of Ayr on the west coast of Scotland. Fire-fighting vehicles from Ayr can be found throughout the UK.

In addition to standard components, such as a floodlight boom, pump and vehicle control systems, the vehicles are fitted out in Great Britain with additional features, for instance CCTV, a mobile on-board computer or an alarm system. These extra electronic components need a powerful and above all reliable power supply to provide the required levels of energy.

Fronius Active Inverter Technology convinced the company. Following in-depth product testing, Emergency One opted for Acctiva Twin 15A for use in its fire-fighting vehicles.

One of the clinching factors was a guaranteed power supply that would not overcharge the vehicle battery. On the contrary, the intelligent charging process actually prolongs the service life of the battery. The second reason in favour of Fronius charging technology is the FIRECAN communication interface included in the new Acctiva Twin 15A.

Various status codes from the battery charging system and the battery itself can be transferred to the vehicle system via the CAN bus system. This has the advantage of displaying the battery voltages in the vehicle and results in lower manufacturing costs, as the additional voltage measuring components are no longer required.

The plug-in charging and mains cables of the Acctiva Twin 15A provide total flexibility.
