Expanding from Austria throughout the world – Fronius Solar in China
18.09.2007
In 2005, the Solar Electronics Division set sail for the Chinese market and met with success.
Impressive numbers & excellent prospects
The crowning business achievement came in early 2007 with the order to deliver invertors to the Chinese solar power plant at Chongming. This is currently the largest facility in China located on the Eco Island in the Yangtze Delta in Shanghai.
This grid-connected system has a total output of 1 MWp, and was commissioned and put into operation by Fronius in August 2007. A total of 31 Fronius inverters were installed including components for system monitoring to ensure problem-free operation. This project has made Fronius Solar Electronics a popular and sought-after partner. There are now several other large projects in the works.
The solar inverters installed to date, for example, in Beijing, Hangzhou, Guangdong, Jinan, etc. continue to operate to the customer’s complete satisfaction.
China: Large country with great potential
China has had a renewable energy law in effect since Jan 1, 2006. It sets ambitious goals for the production of renewable energy in China. Fronius sees enormous potential in the Chinese market and has positioned itself accordingly.
Currently, our projects deal with grid-connected plant systems. They are all publicly-financed exhibition, pilot or demo projects. However, all signs indicate that China will also be providing sufficient resources for photovoltaic systems in the foreseeable future. Fronius will be equipping itself for the expected boom.
A Chinese employee in Shanghai has been providing administrative and operational sales support since September 2007. A technician for service and support will soon follow to ensure that the excellent service quality that Fronius is known for will also be available in China.
