In robot applications and with large production runs, the need to exchange wearing parts on the welding torch is a factor that reduces system availability. After all, it means that the robot welding cell has to stop work while the contact tip or the gas nozzle is changed. And every standstill costs money. This is where Robacta TX comes in, exchanging the torch bodies all on its own, reliably and without human intervention. It can also exchange torch-bodies of various different geometries, which greatly increases flexibility when working with a robot system.

The time at which this service operation is performed no longer depends on work-shifts, but can be scheduled to take place after a certain cycle time or number of operating hours. The servicing work on the torch bodies can then be carried out conveniently and at any location.
With only minor alterations to existing Fronius welding systems, to the robot and the compressed-air supply, autonomous torch-body changing is possible in any robot welding cell. All that is needed is an extra base stand with an integral torch-body rack, and an interchangeable coupling between the torch body and hosepack. A compressed-air mechanism operating via the existing blow-out line actuates the interchangeable-coupling valve, which holds or releases the torch body.
With Robacta TX, the welding cell becomes more and more autonomous. All the more reason, then, why there is such reliable sensor technology working away in the background to monitor the changeover process, control the compressed air and confirm that the torch bodies have latched into place on the intended rack. Robacta TX is available for water- and gas-cooled welding systems with pay-off packs. Alongside the standard equipment for Robacta TX there are also several practical extra options such as torch-body coding. This ensures that the right torch body latches into place at the right rack location. An optional cover protects the torch-body rack from soiling and damage in day-to-day use.
