Powering the future – at CeMAT 2011

21.05.2011

The five days of the CeMAT fair in Hanover proved to be a great success for the Battery Charging Systems division - with an impressive stand, five fascinating 'theme islands' showing off a host of innovations, a highly motivated team and numerous high-calibre contacts. Under www.fronius.com/batterychargingsystems the trade stand can be viewed - just click the banner.

Between May 2nd and 6th, the world's leading intralogistics fair welcomed visitors from all over the world to the Hanover Exhibition Centre. This time the fair, which takes place every three years, was staged under the slogan "Sustainability in Intralogistics". The five days saw the 1000 plus exhibitors put on demonstrations of world firsts for the logistics and material flow sector.

Of the 58,000 people who came through the doors, approximately 35% were visitors from abroad. The international character of the visitors was also apparent on the 150m² Fronius stand.

The Fronius stand at CeMAT was decked out in the new corporate design – the new umbrella brand elements, such as the joint slogan, the division name and the leaping man were brought to life through the core messages.
'Theme islands' had been created on the stand to show visitors the highlights of Active Inverter Technology. A computer animation demonstrated the differences compared with conventional 50 Hertz and inverter technology. It was an opportunity to discuss the special features of Active Inverter Technology that make it such a winning formula.

On one of the other islands, visitors had the opportunity to hear about the savings potential offered by Active Inverter Technology. The new lifecycle costs calculator, the I-SPoT, was used to work out the savings visitors could make in their specific application areas.

The quality and reliability of Fronius battery charging systems was another key topic. Videos and photos gave visitors the opportunity to learn about the wide-ranging test processes employed during product development, as well as the Fronius Final Test System.

The two battery charging and service devices - the Selectiva Plus 4050 and 8070 - were another area of interest. As part of a special promotion linked to the fair, battery suppliers and forklift truck dealers will have the opportunity to experience the flexibility of the charging systems for themselves. The first orders as a result of this promotion, which runs until 30th June 2011, have already been received.

The HyLog Fleet project also attracted a lot of attention. Back at the last CeMAT in 2008, Fronius displayed a Linde tractor vehicle with the fuel cell as a drive concept. The next generation HyLOG Fleet was presented on both the Fronius stand and in the hall containing the Linde stand. This joint project, underpinned by a cooperation agreement, points to the future of in-house logistics, in which efficiency and low emissions go hand in hand. Support programs on EU-level and in Germany for fuel cell driven forklift trucks attracted interesting customers as well as forklift truck manufacturers, who aim at realizing concrete projects in the future.

CeMAT 2011 was an extremely important event for the Battery Charging Systems division and attracted numerous high-calibre contacts from home and abroad. The comprehensive media coverage in the various trade journals and trade portals was further proof of the good relationship that Fronius enjoys with the logistics and material flow trade press.
