Equipment features
Grounding selectable on site.
Decide on site what type of grounding is required as the Fronius IG Plus is field programmable for either positive or negative module grounding.
All Fronius IG Plus inverters have a robust, well designed aluminum housing. UV resistance and corrosion protection enable them to be used either indoors or outdoors. Fronius is proud to be one of the only inverters tested and approved to operate at 122° F.
No external DC disconnect installation or cabling is necessary. The Fronius IG Plus comes complete with an approved, built-in, lockable and load breakable DC Disconnect.
The connection area and power stages are installed separately from each other. Very easy and extremely safe: The connection area is attached to the wall as normal. Then the power module is simply plugged in. The power plug connects both parts into one secure unit. If service is required, the connector remains on the wall maintaining all settings and configurations.
The Fronius IG Plus inverter line from 3.0 to 11.4 kW is field programmable to 208, 240 or 277 volts (Fronius IG Plus 12.0 kW only availabale in 277 volts), eliminating the need to install different inverter models to accommodate three-phase installations.
Technology
FRONIUS MIXTM TECHNOLOGY
/ The clever combination of multiple power stages means Fronius inverters always achieve maximum yield, even with partial-loads. This is due to the unique Fronius Master Inverter X-Change system (MIX™), a development of the classic master/slave principle. How it works: All power stages are equal. The “master” is allocated alternately, depending on the operating hours. The result is that loads are applied evenly to individual power stages decreasing operating time on any one power stage.
/ Maximum efficiency under partial load
With MIX™ technology, get the maximum power harvest out of partial load ranges, e.g. on cloudy days, through a clever combination of multiple power stages in each inverter. The power stages in Fronius inverters divide up the work depending on operating hours and only operate as many power stages as required to efficiently process available power from the PV array.
/ Unrivalled stability
The redundant design means that even if one power stage fails the inverter continues to operate, ensuring yields are achieved. In the unlikely event a power stage fails the others will continue to operate.
/ Longer service life
Depending on the operation hours of each power stage, our inverters decide which power stages run under partial load conditions. This ensures that the work load is distributed equally between the power stages. The result is reduced operating time of individual power stages which increases the lifespan of the inverter.
AUTOMATIC HF TRANSFORMER SWITCHING
/ Fronius transformer inverters use a high-frequency (HF) transformer. The automatic transformer switching function produces three efficiency peaks. The result: A constant level of efficiency across the entire input voltage range, resulting in higher yields. Other key advantages of HF transformer technology are a compact, lightweight design, and safety as a result of the galvanic isolation.
FRONIUS MODULE MANAGER
/ The Fronius Module Manager always locates the maximum power point (MPP), even in the case of more demanding thin-film modules. The Fronius Module Manager achieves an outstanding MPP adaptation efficiency of >99.9 % in total.
UNIQUE PC BOARD REPLACEMENT PROGRAM
/ The foundation of our unique on-site PC board replacement program is laid as we develop our inverters, as PC boards can only be replaced if the device has been designed accordingly. This enables our Authorized Service Provider to offer the fastest inverter servicing on the market.

SMART VENTILATION DESIGN
/ With Fronius smart ventilation design, the air required for cooling is drawn through a closed channel over the heat sink. This prevents contact between outside air and the circuit boards while cooling the inverter components ensuring the inverter operates consistently. All circuit boards are also dipped in conformal coating to provide an added measure of protection.
