Fronius at the 81st Geneva Motor Show
Technomag, a Fronius partner, presented Acctiva battery charging systems for the first time at the Geneva Motor Show, which was held between March 3rd and 13th 2011. Workshop equipment supplier Würth also gave a demonstration of Fronius OEM battery charging systems on its stand.
The Geneva Motor Show started out as the "National Automobile and Bicycle Exhibition" back in 1905. Today, this annual exhibition is one of the first motor trade fairs of the year and, as such, is always where new products and concept studies are first unveiled.
This year, a total of more than 700,000 visitors was expected, and the number of exhibitors was noticeably higher that at last year's fair. The focal point for all car manufacturers was hybrid technology, with the trend for the majority of suppliers being towards "plug-in hybrid".
Unlike a conventional hybrid drive, "plug-in" hybrid can also be charged from a socket and is characterised by its larger battery (Ah – ampere hours), which enables vehicles to be driven for even longer on electrical power alone.
This year, Fronius was on the Technomag stand, where the new Acctiva Professional 35A with Active Inverter Technology was presented alongside the longstanding successes Acctiva Easy Car Edition and Acctiva Standard. Acctiva products were presented professionally to the workshop equipment suppliers and after-market firms concentrated In Hall 7. The OEM versions of Acctiva Professional Flash, Acctiva Easy and Acctiva Würth Expert were also on display on the Würth stand. The large number of visitors and contacts indicates that the automotive sector is back on an upward trend and that the mood across the market is very positive.
As is the case every year, concept studies and product innovations from manufacturers were keenly anticipated. Standouts among the concept studies were Alfa's 4C and the Mini Rocketman, while product innovations such as Ferrari´s FF and the new Lamborghini Aventador also attracted a great deal of attention.
