weld+vision No. 21 - Robots make their way into many areas of our lives
“Techno_topia” – an intriguing term that is cropping up more and more often nowadays, albeit construed in many different ways. Which raises the question of how we propose to understand the term in this issue of weld+vision: Without technology, our modern-day society would be inconceivable. Entertainment, everyday life, healthcare, industry and the whole economy – in all these sectors, technology plays an indispensable role.
What direction is this development taking? Which fields will technology be advancing into in future, and in what form? What changes will this lead to in the relationship between mankind and its machines? Many questions, many answers. weld+vision has tried to present a wide spectrum, not just of different views but also of opportunities and visions.
In the cover story, the noted philosopher Konrad Paul Liessmann and Dr. Birgit Graf from the Fraunhofer Institute answer concrete questions on robot technology. Klaus Fronius will be talking about a future in which intuition and experience can control machines directly. And there’ll be no shortage of technology on the R&D pages either. But best to read for yourself – we hope you’ll find it both an enjoyable and thoughtprovoking read.
