Fronius has the world's first TÜV Süd certified fuel cell system
09.03.2009
The Fronius energy cell is the world's first TÜV Süd certified hydrogen-powered fuel cell system that generates electricity without any emissions whatsoever.
Following up on its series of awards, such as the Climate Protection Award 2008 and the Energy Globe World Award 2007, the Fronius energy cell has now also received accreditation from TÜV Süd. The certificate is confirmation from an independent third party that the fuel cell system conforms to the safety standards set out in DIN EN 62282-5-1:2007. The certification process covers not just product quality, it also examines production processes in the manufacturing facilities.
For anyone who purchases the energy cell, the TÜV Süd certificate brings with it a considerable benefit: it simplifies the system approval and commissioning process with the relevant authorities. Without the certificate, users would normally also be obliged to have the safety features verified by an independent third party. Using the Fronius energy cell does away with this requirement and saves customers time and money.
The first certified Fronius energy cell has already been successfully commissioned by the University of Geneva. In the presence of the customer, Prof. Yvon, Fronius and the engineering company Muntwyler Energietechnik AG, which is a Fronius Sales Partner, installed the system in February.
