Fronius and Audi - always one step ahead

27.11.2009

On October 19th, carmaker Audi invited its employees to a Technology Development Day in Ingolstadt with the motto "We shape the way ahead". Fronius, the joining experts, were well represented with a stand and technical presentations. Two trailblazers providing the technology for the bodywork of tomorrow...

Joining technology from Fronius and the next generation of cars from Audi are both the result of the same philosophy - using expert knowledge, vision, motivation and the ability to make the impossible possible to stay ahead of the pack. Visit the the Audi Ingolstadt Technology Development Day at the PG-62 college and dig a little deeper into the successful relationship between these two and you will find countless theoretical and practical solutions from both partners. Fronius took the opportunity to present its three newest developments - the DeltaSpot resistance spot welding system, the autonomous welding cell and CMT pinning technology. Fronius experts demonstrated smart solutions for body construction during technical presentations of DeltaSpot and the autonomous welding cell and with in-depth information on the stand. The results of work by Audi suppliers Böllhoff, Ejot, Emhart Tucker, Arcelor Mittal, Novelis, Trumpf and Sikora were also very interesting. "A first-class event demonstrating just how much expertise is involved behind the scenes in every area", summarised Werner Schröttenhamer, Global Customer Manager.

Audi and Fronius have been working together for 15 years. Fronius gained its first foothold in the automotive market at the start of the 90s with the TransPuls Synergic 330/450 range, whereas the turn of the millennium saw Audi introduce the digital generation of power sources from Fronius. 2005 was a particularly eventful year, marking the introduction of the CMT process and the decision by Audi to select Fronius as its main supplier of power sources.

Brigitte Strauß took the opportunity presented by the Technology Development Day to mark the successful relationship between the two companies by presenting Dr. Dreves, member of the Audi executive board, with a portrait created using the new CMT pinning technology from Fronius.
