In addition to the product features described, which apply to both the Acctiva and Selectiva product ranges, there are various other product features that can be adjusted for different battery types. In the following the product features of chargers for starter batteries are described.

A raft of features provides the highest possible degree of safety for personnel, the battery and the charger:
- Electronically safe: The Acctiva product range is absolutely electronically safe and provides maximum safety for the electronic components in a vehicle. Electronically safe means that dangerous voltage peaks and sparking cannot occur whilst the charging leads are being connected to or disconnected from the battery.
- Electronic reverse polarity protection: Acctiva units automatically detect whether the polarity is correct. If the clamps are inadvertently connected to the wrong terminals, nothing happens.
- Overload and short-circuit protection: Total safety for both man and machine.
Especially when they are left unused for lengthy periods, starter batteries may become discharged. The special Refresh characteristic can be used to regenerate fully-discharged and sulphated batteries. This process is carried out by a microprocessor-controlled characteristic, and it improves the startability and the capacity of used batteries. The Refresh characteristic involves a controlled overcharging for a specified length of time; during this process the battery should be disconnected from the vehicle's power supply.
Power supply during diagnostic operations and software updates in vehicles
