Several millionths of a millimetre thick, transparent layer, which minimises losses through reflection. Light reflected off the surface of the solar cell cannot be absorbed, and therefore does not contribute to the generation of electricity. In solar cells, the anti reflex layer therefore improves light exploitation, and thus the degree of efficiency.
