Fronius International can look back on a successful business year. Its turnover increased from 299 million euros in 2007 to 370 million euros in 2008. Fronius is well-known as an innovative group of companies, and last year it registered 116 new patents.
Since its foundation, Fronius has developed from a well-known family business into a global concern with business activities all over the world. Its number of subsidiaries around the world has increased to twelve. At the same time Fronius has also been intensifying its presence in the market, and has exhibited at 150 trade fairs during 2008. These enabled the products and services offered by Fronius's three divisions to be introduced to others in the trade from countries all over the world. In October last year Fronius opened its upgraded sales offices in Wels. In November work started on the foundations of one of the largest private R&D centres in Thalheim near Wels.
Fronius leaves the competition standing in terms of its spirit of innovation, its environmental awareness and its economic viability. Fronius, whose head office is located in Pettenbach (Upper Austria), is at the cutting edge of technology in the international market; in 2008 the company was once again awarded numerous prizes and awards. These included the "World-Energy-Globe", a prize for climate protection and an Austrian national prize for environmental and energy technology. The state of Upper Austria awarded Fronius with their 'Family Oscar' award for its company kindergarten, which caters for a total of thirty children in three small groups. One of last year's high points was receiving the Austrian National Award for Innovation.
