New online medium for Fronius

YouTube has become a worldwide phenomenon, now Fronius is looking to share in the benefits of this new medium. All Fronius laboratory videos have been available to view on YouTube since the beginning of April. Twenty videos are already available online and the site received 1100 hits in the first month.

Wels. Fronius has had a presence on YouTube with a number of videos since the beginning of April 2009. A project team was set up in the Welding Technology Division to look at this medium more closely and they decided it looked promising. The first indications are that their efforts have been successful - the site has received 1100 hits in the first month alone.

There are currently 20 videos from the Welding Technology Division available online. The site has a selection of videos on offer, such as films showing applications such as ActiveWave, or video clips showing CMT and other welding techniques. The aim is to bridge the wide gap between image and technology by showing the target group examples of welding in practice. The aim for the future is for new videos to be added to the site every one to two weeks.

What is YouTube? YouTube is an online video portal that was launched on the web in February 2005 and has been growing ever since. By July 2006, 65,000 videos were being uploaded every day and 100 million visits had been registered. YouTube enables users to place videos online, making them widely accessible free of charge. Any user can view video clips, and all registered users can upload their own material, leave feedback on other users' videos and subscribe to video channels.
