While we subject all our products to extensive endurance testing to ensure consistently high standards, faults are inevitable from time-to-time. In that case, we have FSPs+: tried-and-tested Fronius experts able to replace faulty parts and entire devices on site. This means they do not need to remove the inverter for warranty claims, keeping the downtime of your photovoltaic system to a minimum. To ensure every FSP+ can provide you with the best possible service, we give them expert support. Every FSP+ has priority access to qualified technicians from our Technical Support Team, and with the Fronius Solar Online Support (SOS) Tool, FSP+ partners have critical diagnostic information at their fingertips.

Sites: 5 locations, including a 200kW ground-mount system for Cefn Pty Ltd.
Client Background: Cefn Pty Ltd, a family-owned pork producer in Queensland’s Darling Downs, manages 7,000 sows across four farms. They are committed to animal welfare, biosecurity, and sustainability. Accredited by APIQ, they produce over 2,850 pigs weekly while supporting local communities.

The Project at a Glance

The Challenge

Dust and Organic Particles: Piggeries generate dust, dander, and organic particles that can reduce solar panel efficiency.
Ammonia Emissions: Ammonia from pig waste can lead to grime buildup and potential component corrosion.
Moisture and Residue: Moisture combined with particulates can form residues, lowering efficiency.
Bird Activity: Birds attracted to piggeries can soil panels, further impacting performance.

The Fronius Solution

To address these challenges, Adapt Energy installed a ground-mounted solar array 100 meters away from the piggery to avoid local emissions. Key measures included:

Engineering Solutions: Significant cable runs and DC combiner boxes ensured minimal voltage drop and maintained system efficiency.
Structural Design: Ground mount systems required structural engineering, wind load analysis, and soil testing. The site’s flood-prone area necessitated custom-engineered raised mounting systems.
Rainfall Retention: The system’s design retained rainfall effectively, promoting grass growth and allowing sheep to graze under the solar array.
Payback Optimisation: The system was designed to maximize energy offset while achieving a feasible payback period.
Inverters: Fronius Tauro 100kW inverters were selected for their robust design, capable of withstanding extreme conditions like dust, debris, wind loads, and heat. No alternative solution matched their build quality and alignment with the client’s long-term goals.

Energy Production: 304.45 MWh
CO₂ Offset: 240.51 tonnes

Daily Example: The system produced over 1.2 MWh in one day, despite a 17kW export limit.
