Well now we can! Alexa is able to keep you up to date with your system data, such as yield data or the degree of self-sufficiency. This will make your PV system and the topic of solar power in general more accessible and can be integrated into your daily life in a fun and, above all, meaningful way.
THE ALEXA FRONIUS SOLAR.WEB SKILL
Fronius
Solar.web already allows you to access your system data from anywhere at any
time, whether that is using a laptop, a smartphone or a tablet. But looking up
data is about to become even easier. You can now ask Alexa questions about your
PV system. Alexa provides you with the information from Solar.web that you are
interested in.
This
makes your PV system even more accessible and will quickly become a part of
your home and daily life. Whether you are relaxing on the sofa or enjoying your
evening meal, Alexa can provide you with information about the status of your
PV system at any time. This makes your system data accessible to even the
youngest members of your family, meaning that your children will grow up
familiar with the topic of solar power and renewable energy.
WHAT IS ALEXA?
Alexa is a cloud-based voice service
from Amazon. Alexa is the brain behind Amazon Echo and other Alexa-enabled
devices. Using Alexa is as simple as asking a question—just ask, and Alexa will
respond instantly.
HOW CAN I USE ALEXA WITH SOLAR.WEB?
Alexa
provides owners of PV systems with information about current and historical
data from Fronius Solar.web, such as yield data or the degree of
self-sufficiency:
- Alexa, ask Solar.web how much energy my system produced today.
- Alexa, ask Solar.web how much energy my system produced last month.
- Alexa, ask Solar.web how high my self-sufficiency today is.
- Alexa, ask Solar.web what the state of charge of my battery currently is.
WHAT DO YOU NEED IN ORDER TO BE ABLE TO USE FRONIUS SOLAR.WEB WITH ALEXA?
In
order to be able to use the Fronius Solar.web skill, you need:
- A PV system with at least one Fronius inverter that is registered in Fronius Solar.web and regularly provides PV data
- A Fronius Solar.web Premium account
- For certain questions: a storage solution with a Fronius inverter, a Fronius Smart Meter and/or a Fronius Ohmpilot with temperature sensor
The Alexa Fronius Solar.web skill is now available in German and English in the Amazon Alexa Skill Store. The Alexa skill is free, Echo speakers are available from Amazon.
