Perfect Charging

So that was CeMAT 2018

Events

29/06/2018 / Hannover
Batch sizes of one, booming online trade and the expectation that products should be delivered quickly and cheaply are challenges we all face. This means that an intelligent and close networking of production and logistics is required. That is why it makes perfect sense that the Deutsche Messe AG decided to stage CeMAT at the same time as the HANNOVER MESSE: “Intelligent intralogistics is the backbone and enabler of Industry 4.0,” say the organisers. This focus on interconnectivity is echoed in the motto “Connected Supply Chain Solutions”.
Trade fair stand at CeMAT 2018

Our colleagues at the Fronius trade fair stand explained how we can make an impact on operating costs and efficiency in particular. They spoke with forklift truck manufacturers and operators about drive technologies and individual complete systems, as well as intelligent charging processes and data analysis.

Among the products on display were the battery charging systems from our Selectiva range for batteries with different voltages and capacities, which are also an interesting solution for rental forklift truck fleets. The focus here is on both the service life of the batteries and electricity consumption, with the Selectiva devices scoring highly on both these counts. The Ri charging process – which means that the charging characteristic takes account of the age, capacity and condition of the connected battery – reduces energy loss, as well as harmful warming of the battery.

There were further questions on the trade fair stand about data recording and analysis. The I-SPoT Viewer visualisation tool is our answer. The Viewer provides a graphical representation of the battery charging cycles and enables errors, such as incorrect settings on the devices or battery defects, to be easily identified and rectified. By way of contrast, the “Cool Battery Guide Easy” information and management system enables optimum utilisation of the battery pool. A control unit, in conjunction with an LED strip on every charger, intuitively guides the user to the battery that has been fully charged the longest, thus ensuring that all the batteries are used with the same frequency and have sufficient time to cool down.

The amount of interested international contacts we made was particularly encouraging. The number of people visiting CeMAT demonstrates the promising potential for growth in this field.
