The Urbas workshop was founded in 1929 and is a global enterprise in the three
business fields of steel construction, steel hydraulic engineering and energy
technology. In the youngest business sector, energy technology, Urbas produces
modern biomass energy systems. In line with their green approach, a 1 MW roofmounted
PV system was installed in September 2014.
The size of the system required above-average flexibility at the planning stage.
Thanks to the innovative SuperFlex Design, the various string lengths and roof
orientations did not present a problem during system design. The Dynamic Peak
Manager is even equipped to deal with partial shading in the mornings and
evenings. This MPP tracking algorithm always detects the global maximum,
which maximises the yield. Approximately two-thirds of the megawatt installation
is used as a self-consumption system without any public subsidy and the selfconsumption
rate of 25% dramatically reduces operating costs.
Assmont Energy GmbH installed a total of 43 Fronius Symo 20.0-3-M inverters
in this system. The SnapINverter mounting system was a complete success. “The
installation was straightforward and problem-free,” reports Stephan Traussnig,
Sales Manager at Assmont Energy GmbH.
