This is now possible thanks to parallel operation of the BYD Battery-Box Premium.

The storage solutions from Fronius and BYD can now be used in parallel operation. The combination of a Fronius hybrid inverter and up to three BYD Battery-Box Premium HVS/HVM enables storage capacities of up to 57.96 kWh. This makes it possible to implement larger storage systems, in particular, for commercial systems. 

Larger storage capacities for commercial systems

Commercial enterprises often need a lot of energy during the evening and at night, too. With one or more energy storage systems, the energy that is generated during the day can also be used at night for the company’s own loads.

This makes it possible to cover various company base loads, such as power for lighting, the computer infrastructure, cooling, production machinery, forklift trucks, or feeding machinery for agricultural enterprises.



Fronius and Byd secured the first place in the PV Home Storage System Inspection 2020

In the study, independent testing authorities tested the total efficiency of home storage systems and analysed the interplay of PV systems and battery storage systems. Two different reference cases were assessed. 

With our Fronius Symo GEN24 Plus 10.0 hybrid inverter and the BYD Battery-Box H11.5, we were able to secure first and second place in the two reference cases examined.

Combination of the storage system with an intelligent charging solution

Another example of how battery storage systems are used is charging electric cars. More and more companies are turning to electric vehicles and charging them for free in the evening and at night using solar power generated during the day. Doing so saves on energy costs and the PV system pays for itself faster if electric vehicles are charged using power from a company’s own PV system.

Parallel operation can be either set up during initial installation or added gradually. If, for instance, the requirements for the storage system change, consumption increases or the company fleet is converted to electric cars, cascading presents an ideal solution for expanding the storage system and making better use of the PV power.

 

Profitable and sustainable alternative to a diesel generator in the event of a power outage

The storage solution’s backup power function also performs impressively in parallel operation. Thanks to the high storage capacity, the cascading solution represents a sustainable alternative to an emergency generator. This has not just economic and ecological advantages; in comparison with a diesel generator, companies can use the storage solution 24 hours a day, while a diesel generator is often used only in the event of a power outage and therefore pays itself off significantly more slowly.

 

Simple installation and commissioning

Installation of the storage system in parallel operation requires no additional hardware, which saves on costs. The floor mounting means that the installation can be carried out quickly and easily, as usual.

This combination is possible with all Fronius hybrid inverters (Fronius Symo and Primo GEN24 Plus, Fronius Symo Hybrid). Up to three battery storage systems of the same type and size can be connected in parallel*. More information about the possible combinations can be found here.
