Fronius and BYD - a rewarding partnership

All Fronius Symo Hybrid devices can be made compatible with the BYD Battery-Box HV in a fast and cost effective manner via a remote software update
It is not just newly purchased Fronius Symo Hybrid devices that are compatible with the BYD storage systems – a software update can be used to bring Fronius Symo Hybrid battery inverters that are currently being held in stock or that have already been installed up to date and enable compatibility with the BYD Battery-Box HV. The remote update function is particularly convenient as it means that you do not need to travel to the place of installation – you can simply update the software of a Symo Hybrid that has already been installed from the comfort of your desk. Aside from the Fronius Smart Meter, no other external hardware components are required.
The compatibility initially applies to Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Australia. Other countries will follow shortly.
For the update of the Fronius Symo Hybrid, please contact the technical hotline beforehand by telephone. Please have the Datalogger ID or the serial number of the Symo Hybrid ready. The details can be found in the user manual in the download area.
Rigorous testing to ensure seamless operation
Out of the lab and into the real world – that’s how we make pre-production devices at Fronius. In recent months, several different models of the BYD Battery-Box HV have been installed in real systems in Austria and subjected to in-depth testing under real-life operating conditions. The results speak for themselves: the Fronius Symo Hybrid and the BYD battery complement each other perfectly and therefore constitute the most flexible energy storage solution with emergency power for 3-phase households[1].
Modular expandability
The energy storage solution provides your customers with enormous flexibility, as they can choose from sizes ranging from 6.4 kWh and 11.52 kWh[2]. In addition, the BYD Battery-Box HV has a modular design. Customers can start with a smaller storage unit and add additional modules over time. This offers them exceptional flexibility when it comes to adapting the system to their individual needs.
Emergency power function
A special feature is the three-phase emergency power supply. This ensures the highest levels of self-sufficiency and flexibility.“As before, there are still hardly any solutions for providing 3-phase emergency power from a battery. This is something we’re now changing. Using the Battery-Box HV from BYD makes us the only supplier providing this type of emergency power supply,” observes Martin Hackl, Head of Solar Energy at Fronius International GmbH.

Safe, efficient and powerful
The Battery-Box storage systems from BYD are based on the safest form of technology on the market: lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4). This enables short charging times over a particularly long service life, thus ensuring a very high level of self-consumption.
Achieving maximum independence using stored electricity, heat and mobility
It is simple to get the most out of your self-generated electricity. But how? It’s easy: the Fronius Symo Hybrid with BYD Battery-Box HV energy storage solution can be combined with an electric car charging infrastructure or with a thermal storage solution (Fronius Ohmpilot). These three sectors of electricity, heat and mobility allow you to achieve as much independence from the public grid as possible and mean that your property will still be supplied with energy in the event of a blackout.
