Expert conference ensures quality stays on track

Event

7/11/2023
From June 20 to 21, 2023, Fronius hosted the conference of the European Committee for Welding of Railway Vehicles (ECWRV) for the first time. This is organized regularly by Halle Welding Training and Testing Institute (SLV Halle GmbH) and the German Welding Society (DVS) and serves as a platform for all those responsible for manufacturer qualification in rail vehicle construction.
Conference rail vehicle manufacturers
Every day, millions of people use rail vehicles such as subway trains, tramways, overland trains, or high-speed trains. Quality therefore plays an essential role in manufacturing and must be ensured across the entire (usually international) supply chain. All companies that construct, manufacture parts for, or perform maintenance work on rolling stock require a certification based on EN 15085 in Europe. “We meet regularly in order to maintain a uniform level of quality in this certification across the 30 European certification bodies in 14 countries and to apply the standard in a transparent and harmonized way,” explains Professor Steffen Keitel, Managing Director of SLV Halle GmbH. “We are delighted to be able to meet this time here in Wels, in the heart of Europe,” he continues.

“Rail vehicle construction is a very important customer sector for Fronius. We offer a comprehensive portfolio of welding solutions that can fully meet the quality requirements according to EN 15085,” notes Michael Eberhard, Customer Segment Manager Commercial Transportation at Fronius International. “This conference was therefore both an excellent opportunity for us to learn from the experts and also to present our solutions for high-quality weld seams and traceable seam documentation.”
