The Solar.web Application Programming Interface (API) is an
application-to-application interface for accessing data on the Solar.web
server. Two applications (client requesting data and Solar.web delivering data)
are interacting via API to each other without any user intervention. In this
case, the SREC Trade platform is connected to the Fronius Solar.web server.
SREC stands for Solar Energy Renewable Energy Credits. It's a credit for every kWh of solar energy produced. These credits can be traded on SREC markets (similar to CO2 certificates).
SREC Trade is one of the largest SREC transaction and management firms in the industry, with over 519 MW of solar assets under management. The company facilitates the brokerage of spot and forward contract SREC transactions in the over-the-counter markets. SREC Trade’s clients cover all market participants including competitive electricity suppliers, utilities, project developers, PPA providers, leasing companies, installation firms, and individual commercial and residential system owners.
Your system generates electricity, this production is reported to SREC Trade (via Solar.web), which registers the SRECs and creates them in your trade account. SREC Trade sells your SRECs at the best possible price and you are paid within 10 business days.
The solar system needs to be connected to Fronius Solar.web. The system owner or installer then has to link their SREC account to the Solar.web system within the SREC portal. Please contact SREC Trade for support, if needed - www.srectrade.com
For systems below 10 kW the accuracy of the inverter is sufficient. For systems above 10 kW a third party Revenue Grade Meter (RGM) is needed. Fronius inverters can be connected to any third party meter with SunSpec Modbus interface.
