Fronius Symo GEN24 Plus supplies energy in the event of a power outage
Private home with 10.2 kWp PV roof-mounted system, Fronius Symo GEN24 Plus hybrid inverter with Full Backup, BYD battery, Fronius Ohmpilot, electric car

As you step through the door of the Ringer family’s house, you instantly feel at home. Large windows bathe the rooms in light, the garden is well kept and the pool beckons you to take a dip.The real showstopper, however, is the cutting-edge energy system.

The Fronius Symo GEN24 Plus – uniquely versatile
The heart and brain of the PV system is the new Fronius Symo GEN24 Plus hybrid inverter, which impresses with its unbeatable flexibility.
For the Ringer family, it was important to get the most out of their solar energy with one device. That is why they also fully exploit its entire range of solutions – from electricity to heat generation to the charging of their electric car. Other homeowners may want to start small and only use the Fronius Symo GEN24 Plus as a storage inverter with basic backup power supply, which is also possible.
BYD storage system with Full Backup to supplement the PV system
Stefanie and Thomas Ringer both work full time. For this reason, they also wanted to incorporate a storage system into the overall system so that they can use the electricity they have generated in the evenings and at night.
A BYD battery with a capacity of 22,08 KW was installed. However, the battery provides power not only at night, but also when there is no electricity available; in other words, during a power outage. Thanks to the Full Backup function, the Ringers’ home is also supplied with energy even when the power grid is off for a long time.

No doing things by halves – generating hot water using PV energy
“When we bought the house it was important to us to preserve its charms while at the same time benefiting from the latest developments in energy generation. For us, this meant turning off the existing oil heating system as far as possible. We are now using PV electricity to heat our water instead,” says Stefanie Ringer.
The principle is quite simple: surplus PV energy, which is not required in the household, is used to generate hot water. All of this takes place via the Fronius Ohmpilot. The intelligent consumption regulator can also be easily integrated into an existing PV system.

The Ringers charge their electric car with PV power
The use of PV electricity does not stop at mobility for the Ringer family, as they also charge their electric car with power from their photovoltaic system. Currently, they are still using an ordinary 230-volt domestic socket.
"We are planning to install an intelligent wallbox as the next step. This will work really well with our flexible electricity tariff so that the car is charged when the mains power is particularly cheap,” says Thomas Ringer. “So we’ll either use the electricity we’ve produced ourselves for charging or mains electricity at particularly low rates, depending on what is currently available.”
