The dazzling IFOY Award 2018 ceremony

Parceria

29/06/2018 / Hannover
To great cheers, the winners of the IFOY Award 2018 were announced on the opening night of the CeMAT fair. The selection and testing process had lasted for six months, punctuated by the IFOY Test Days. At the start of February, twelve nominated devices, components and solutions by manufacturers BYD, Jungheinrich, Liebherr, Still, Gebr. Schulte, Wegard and Witron were put to some of the harshest intralogistics tests for the audit. At the end there was a close head-to-head race before the international jury was finally in agreement. “It was the hardest and closest call there’s ever been for the IFOY Award. The IFOY audit showed that, when it comes quality, innovation and practicality, all our finalists are ahead of the competition, not just on paper, but also in practice,” stresses Anita Würmser, managing chair of the IFOY jury.
The Winners of the IFOY Award 2018

In the premier division of “Integrated Warehouse Solutions”, Witron Logistik + Informatik GmbH took home the trophy for its omnichannel solution at Migros-Verteilzentrum Suhr AG, whereby small quantity picking is linked with the branch business.

The new RX 20 from Hamburg-based Still GmbH was named the best forklift truck of the year. The agile 1.6-tonne vehicle is suitable for indoor and outdoor use and can be operated both with circuit A or B batteries as well as lead-acid and lithium-ion batteries.

Two vehicles received the same number of points and were therefore both awarded the title of “Warehouse Truck of the Year”. The ECE 225 with easyPILOT Follow from Jungheinrich AG is a semi-automatic solution whereby the order picker automatically follows its operator. The Wegard Trail by Hamburg-based start-up Wegard GmbH is the first modular tugger train with autonomously and electronically steered axles. Jungheinrich received a second IFOY Award in the “Special of the Year” category with the SLH300 charger for forklift trucks.

In the crane category, the mobile MK 140 construction crane by Liebherr-Werk Biberach GmbH claimed the prize. According to the jury, the compact five-axle model is the first crane that combines the standard trolley mode for quick and fully electric handling with the luffing mode for special operations in the form of VarioJib.

As the official technology partner, Fronius supports the global intralogistics award, which, every year, rewards the best forklift trucks, as well as application solutions in the industry, trade and service sectors. Supporting the IFOY Award, under the patronage of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy, is the Association of Materials Handling and Intralogistics in the VDMA.
