The TIG welding functions

Gas pre-flow and post-flow

The welding machine that thinks with you. Artis automatically calculates the duration of the optimal gas post-flow time according to the set welding current. This improves the gas shield at the end of the weld and around the tungsten.

Automatic shutdown

Once the welding process is complete, the welding current switches off automatically after a specific change in the arc length.

TAC function

Up to 50% time savings when tacking. Pulse currents are used to make the weld pool oscillate. This makes it easier to tack components together and reduces tacking time, leaving minimal to no temper colors on the tacking points.

Pulse and TAC display curve

This allows you to add two additional welding parameters—“Pulse” and “TAC”—to the function curve on the control panel.

TIG Pulse: For thin sheets

MIG/MAG pulse welding is used primarily for welding in tight spaces or for welding particularly thin materials. The pulse setting range is from 1 Hz to 990 Hz.

Touch high-frequency ignition

If limited component accessibility requires the use of torches without a torch trigger, touch HF ignition is the answer. The machine detects contact with the workpiece and, after a defined period of time, ignites the arc precisely at the desired point.

Variable TIG welding torch

We offer TIG welding torches with standard, UpDown function, long trigger, or potentiometer, depending on your requirements.

Spot and stitch welding

The spot welding mode allows you to apply welding spots at even intervals. With the freely adjustable stitch pause time, you can also continue this as stitch welding.

Electrode pulse welding

The electrode pulse mode enables better weld properties in tight spaces and increased gap-bridging ability. It is ideal for welding vertical-up seams.

HotStart function

In order to make the electrode easier to ignite, the current is increased for a split second during ignition on the welding machine.

Cellulose electrodes

Optimum characteristic for welding cellulose electrodes. This requires a higher open circuit voltage or ignition power.

Arc-force dynamic

If basic electrodes are welded with coarse droplet material transfer at a low current (underloaded), there is a danger of sticking. To rule this out, more current is supplied for a split second so that the electrode burns freely, preventing sticking.

Anti-stick

If a short circuit occurs (electrode sticks during MMA welding), the welding current is interrupted. This prevents annealing of the electrode and serious weld faults.

TrackingArc

This function acts like a flashlight. Igniting the arc with only eight amperes makes it easier to find the exact starting position when re-igniting after the end of welding or an electrode change. This helps you avoid welding errors such as insufficiently filled end-craters or notch effects as well as time-consuming rework. The TrackingArc function is specifically designed for applications that do not use an automatic welding helmet or shield.

Prevents damage when the system is connected to a power supply that is too high.

PFC—Power Factor Correction (Artis XT versions)

Ensures adaptive current consumption to make effective use of the available power. Power is only drawn from the grid as needed; which saves energy, allows longer grid leads to be used, improves generator compatibility, and results in higher welding currents—all without tripping the automatic circuit breaker.

Time shutdown/standby mode

After a defined period of time, the power module switches off. The device enters standby mode to minimize energy consumption when not in use.
