    Essential Backup Load Unit: Essential Backup Power Made Easy

    The Fronius Essential Backup Load Unit is designed to handle your backup needs automatically while providing the most optimal runtime for your home appliances. The Essential Backup Load Unit works both on grid and off grid to provide up to 50A of continuous current to your home loads. With a properly sized battery and simple load calculations, the Essential Backup Load Unit can potentially power your essentials for hours or even days.

    How it works

    The Fronius Essential Backup Load Unit connects to a breaker within your main distribution panel or fuse box after your first home disconnect. The Essential Backup Load Unit and Fronius GEN24 continually monitor your grid connection using the Fronius Smart Meter WR. When a power outage occurs, your non-essential appliances remain connected to the utility grid. The Essential Backup Load Unit transitions your essential appliances to operating directly on Solar and stored battery energy.

    Always-On Power with PV Point Comfort

    PV Point Comfort enhances the capabilities of our GEN24 and GEN24 Plus inverters by providing a permanent power supply for a branch circuit connected directly to the inverter, both during grid outages and in parallel grid operation.PV Point Comfort is designed to ensure that critical appliances, such as refrigerators, freezers, and alarm systems, always remain powered. Unlike PV Point, which comes standard in all GEN24 models, PV Point Comfort is an enhancement that provides grid-pass through to ensure a consistent power output to the branch circuit in any grid condition. It can easily be retrofitted into existing Fronius GEN24 and GEN24 Plus systems, making it a smart and space-saving upgrade.

    Basic backup power with the PV Point

    The Fronius GEN24 inverter features PV Point, an innovative integrated basic backup power supply. In the event of a power outage, PV Point supplies power to an outlet using solar energy, allowing appliances to operate with up to 1.56 kW while the sun is shining. During a brief 5-second interval, the GEN24 can supply increased backup power of up to 2.4 kW through the PV Point. 

    For example, during a power outage, it's possible to charge a smartphone or laptop, enabling system owners to stay connected as long as the sun is shining. For customers with a battery, PV Point can continue to power your appliance even during a storm.

    How it works

    With PV Point, a receptacle is connected to the inverter. Through this receptacle, electrical devices in the household can be operated during a power outage - all without a battery as long as the sun is shining.

    Unlike certain other backup power solutions, PV Point doesn't necessitate large switching components in load center or electrical infrastructure upgrades. Simply connect a cable from the PV Point terminal on the inverter to the designated AC receptacle that requires backup power. This translates to time and cost savings, as there's no need for extensive conversions or additions. The sole prerequisite is a GFCI-integrated AC receptacle.
