Open communication individual PV systems

Connecting Energy – open interfaces for flexible systems

An efficient energy supply also means making the most of synergies. Advances in digitalization, automation and global networking have created the potential for further efficiency increases in local energy systems.

At Fronius we are pioneers in utilizing synergy effects in the field of photovoltaic solutions. We offer and develop solutions which allow for intelligent and easy connection of solar energy with third-party systems. We call this “Connecting Energy”. This enables individual systems to be planned according to the customer’s wishes.

The advantages at a glance

  • Open interfaces ensure maximum flexibility
  • Easy integration of third-party components
  • Facilitates individual, modular systems
  • Direct control of loads with surplus PV electricity
  • Increased self-consumption rates
  • Less grid usage and thus faster profitability

“With Connecting Energy, I primarily connect our open interfaces. These allow third-party manufacturers to access the inverter data or to control the inverter. There are countless examples of successful implementation of this, such as BOSCH, VICTRON, DEIF, Loxone, different heatpumps, EV chargers and many more.

The added value for the customer is in the diversity of applications. It includes both the visualization of the inverter data in external monitoring portals, the control of our inverters and integration into overlaid control mechanisms.”

Open interfaces, open system

In addition to four digital energy management outputs, the Modbus RTU, Modbus TCP SunSpec, LAN/WLAN and Fronius Solar API (JSON) interfaces ensure maximum flexibility. Modular and completely individual systems can be planned based on the modular system.

Nothing stands in the way of connecting third-party components such as a charging station for electric cars or a home automation system. With the help of intelligent energy management, the available energy can be optimally distributed and surplus PV can be used intelligently. This increases self-consumption and the payback period of the PV system decreases.
