1. Networked products and related services of the Welding Technology division
1.1. Welding products
The following welding products are designed as so-called IoT devices and are therefore subject to the European Data Protection Regulation:
- Fortis 270C, 320 C, 400 C and 400 /GW, 500 C, 500 GW and other products in the same series;
- TPS 320i, 320i C, 320i PULSE, 400i, 400i LSC, 400i PULSE, 500i, 500i PULSE, 600i, 600i PULSE, 270i C PULSE and other products in the same series;
- XuperArc 3200C, 4000DS, 5000DS and other products from the same series;
- iWave 230i DC, 190 AC/DC, 230i AC/DC, 190 AC/DC, 300i DC, 300i AC/DC, 400i DC, 400i AC/DC, 500i DC, 500i AC/DC and other products in the same series;
- WeldCube Connector U/I and other products from the same series.
1.2. Product Data
1.2.1. These welding products can generate the following product data:
- Data on device settings (settings, job data, status data): such as default settings and operating point settings for welding, settings and condition data for the respective welding system.
- Usage data: such as error states, setting parameter usage and usage data itself (this data may be personal).
- Process data: process parameters (such as current, voltage, etc.), whereby these parameters are specified by the user.
1.2.2. Storage: This product data can be generated in real time, but is not stored directly on the respective welding product. Product data that is made available in a related service or data processing service may be stored there for a specified period of time (see point1.3.1.2 ).
1.2.3. Format: This product data can be obtained directly from the welding product in XML or PDF format. It is not possible to delete this product data.
The usage data can only be accessed via the additional data processing service provided by Fronius, where the data is kept ready for retrieval and stored for a certain period of time (see1.3.1.2 ).
1.2.4. Data access: The product data (except usage data) can be viewed directly on the respective welding product by retrieving the respective log file and can also be accessed via a web browser. More detailed information and instructions on how to retrieve the product data can be found in the operating instructions for your respective product or at www.fronius.com.
1.2.5. Conditions of access: With regard to access to and use of the generated data, the respective contractual provisions (as set out in the Fronius terms of delivery and payment and in the respective terms of use) must be observed and complied with.
1.3. Related services
1.3.1. WeldCube Air
WeldCube Air (hereinafter referred to as the "platform") offers the option of visualising welding data and digitally managing welding equipment, displaying the current welding processes in real time, as well as errors and warnings. In addition, operating instructions, spare parts catalogues and maintenance documentation can be accessed. Another feature is the display and use of optimisation potential and analyses provided.
WeldCube Air is a cloud-based platform.
1.3.1.1. The product data of the networked welding products mentioned above, which is generated during the welding processes, namely
- device settings,
- usage data and
- status data (in connection with the respective welding device)
is transmitted directly to the cloud in real time when using the connected service and thus to Fronius due to its structure as a cloud-based platform. Service data: Connected service data is currently generated when using Weldcube Air, namely data on user activities (such as the creation, modification, deletion of welding instructions, qualifications, components, etc.).
1.3.1.2. Storage: This product data is stored and retained on the platform. Fronius may limit storage and retention at its own discretion.
1.3.1.3. Data access: The user can access this product data and associated service data directly on the platform; this requires a valid customer account or corresponding registration.
1.3.1.4. Purposes: The data available on the platform is used by Fronius for the following purposes: product improvement, targeted advertising, in particular in connection with wear and spare parts. This use is agreed with the respective user.
1.3.1.5. There are currently no plans to make this data available to third parties (except at your request).
1.3.1.6. In connection with the platform, Fronius is not the owner of any trade secrets contained in the data.
1.3.1.7. The term of the contract is based on the terms of use agreed for the platform and any other agreements made. The termination terms can be found in the terms of use or contract terms.
1.3.2. WeldCube Premium
WeldCube Premium offers intelligent management, analysis and statistics functions combined with graphical processing based exclusively on the recorded data of all connected welding products.
The networked welding products are also functional without WeldCube Premium and all product functions can be executed.
The generated product and related service data of the welding products, which are also required in WeldCube Premium for further functions, can be accessed free of charge in WeldCube Air as described above.
WeldCube Premium with its functionalities is therefore essentially a service that does not affect the operation of the networked product and does not transmit any commands or data to the networked product. WeldCube Premium is therefore not a related service within the meaning of the Data Regulation.
However, we would be happy to provide you with information about the data processing that takes place in WeldCube Premium. Please contact us at the above email address.
1.3.3. WeldCube Navigator
WeldCube Navigator is a Windows desktop application (hereinafter referred to as "service") designed to help standardise manufacturing processes and avoid errors by creating predefined welding instructions and guiding the respective welding specialist through the task. The work steps are visualised (on a separate display device) and the correct parameters are set directly on the welding machine.
1.3.3.1. The product data of the networked welding products mentioned above, which is generated during the current welding processes, namely
- device settings,
- usage data and
- status data (related to the respective welding machine, such as utilisation, temperature and speeds) are transmitted to the service in real time and stored locally.
The following related service data is generated when using the service:
- Registrations with a welding machine and the service;
- Workflow data: number of welds with imported instructions, steps and status of production based on the instructions;
- Imported and specified welding parameters;
- User management data;
- Product data documentation and documentation on welds performed;
- Service settings data and monitoring of the service's programme functionalities.
1.3.3.2. Storage: Product data is not stored in this service, but is only documented on the welded product. The service data is stored on the PC used (50 MB storage space by default) and is subsequently replaced by newer service data on a rolling basis as soon as the storage space is reached.
1.3.3.3. Format: Service data is stored and archived in JSON format. Product data is provided in the formats mentioned above.
1.3.3.4. Data access: The user can retrieve the product data in this service. The product data documentation and documentation on the welds performed can be exported directly from the welding machine. The related service data can be accessed directly via the service. This data can be exported to a file system on a PC or directly via the service.
1.3.3.5. Purposes: The data available in the service is not used by Fronius for its own purposes.
1.3.3.6. Third parties: There are currently no plans to make this data available to third parties (except at your request).
1.3.3.7. Fronius is not the owner of any trade secrets contained in the data in connection with the service.
1.3.3.8. The term of the contract is based on the terms of use agreed for the service and any other agreements made. The termination conditions can be found in the terms of use or contract terms.
2. Networked products and related services of the Solar Energy business division
2.1. Solar Products
The following SOLAR products are designed as so-called IoT devices and are therefore subject to the European Data Regulation. When using these products, the following product data is generated:

2.2. Product Data
2.2.1. Inverter
2.2.1.1. Data access: The above types of product data are generated in real time when using the inverters.
The product data can be accessed directly via the device: via the Solar API (interface) (except for the "Argeno" inverter) – to do this, you must access the interface via the same network, or via a MODBUS interface. For more detailed information and instructions on how to access the product data, please refer to the operating instructions for your respective inverter or visit www.fronius.com.
2.2.1.2. Format: If the product data is retrieved via one of the interfaces, it can be downloaded and saved in json format (Solar API) or as a Sunspec register (Modbus interface).
2.2.1.3. Storage: Real-time product data (known as live data) is not stored on the inverter. The exception to this is the "Argeno" inverter, where product data is also stored locally in a ring buffer for display and support purposes. Settings made on the inverter can be downloaded in PDF format for Gen24, Verto and Tauro inverters. This data is permanently available as it is necessary for operation.
If an additional digital service is used (such as Solar.web or another platform for visualising the product data of an inverter), product data can also be accessed there and, in particular, stored for a longer period of time (depending on the digital service used).
2.2.1.4. Conditions of access: With regard to access to and use of the generated data, the respective contractual provisions (as specified in the Fronius terms of delivery and payment and in the respective terms of use) must be observed and complied with. The technical limitations of the data interfaces can be found in the respective documentation. Rapidly successive requests via the interfaces can affect the stability of the system.
2.2.2. Ohmpilot
2.2.2.1. Data access/format: The above-mentioned types of product data are generated in real time when using Ohmpilot. The product data can be queried via the above-mentioned interfaces of the connected inverter and is output in the above-mentioned format depending on the interface used.
2.2.2.2. Storage: The product data generated in real time is not stored.
2.2.3. Wattpilot
2.2.3.1. Data access: The above types of product data are generated in real time when using Wattpilot. The product data can be queried via the SolarWattpilotAPP, the OCPP interface and via a connected service (e.g. Solar.web).
2.2.3.2. Storage: Product data generated in real time is not stored on the device.
2.2.4. SmartMeter
2.2.4.1. Data access/format: The above types of product data are generated in real time when using the SmartMeter. The product data can be queried via the above-mentioned interfaces of the inverter and is output in the above-mentioned format depending on the interface used.
2.2.4.2. Storage: The product data generated in real time is not stored on the device.
2.2.5. Battery Reserva
2.2.5.1. Data access/format: The above types of product data are generated in real time when the battery is in use. The product data can be queried via the above-mentioned interfaces of the inverter and is output in the above-mentioned format depending on the interface used.
2.2.5.2. Storage: Product data generated in real time is not stored.
2.3. Related Services
2.3.1. Solar.web
"Solar.web" is a cloud-based software-as-a-service platform (hereinafter referred to as "service") that visualises the production data of the stored PV system in particular and offers the possibility of monitoring energy yield, optimising energy consumption and further analysis options.
2.3.1.1. Due to its design as a cloud-based platform, the product data of the connected am. SOLAR products generated when using these products is transmitted directly to the cloud and thus to Fronius in real time when using the related service.
The following related service data is generated when using the service:
- Log data (log files), if applicable;
- Service settings data and monitoring of the service's programme functionalities.
2.3.1.2. Storage: This product data is stored and retained on the platform. Fronius may limit the storage and retention of this data at its own discretion.
2.3.1.3. Format: The product data can be queried directly via the inverter as described above and is output in the respective format.
2.3.1.4. Data access: The user can access the product data in this service directly; this requires a valid customer account or corresponding registration.
2.3.1.5. Purposes: The data available in the service is used by Fronius for the following purposes: product improvement, targeted advertising.
2.3.1.6. Third parties: It is currently intended to make this data available to third parties. Product data can be made available to third parties designated by you and, if necessary, retrieved via an interface (this is particularly the case with so-called virtual power plants). Product data is made available to your network operator or virtual power plant provider after prior consent has been obtained. Certain aggregated (and non-personal) product data may be made available to network operators and public utility service providers, as this data is necessary for the maintenance and efficient expansion of the electricity grid.
2.3.1.7. In connection with the service, Fronius is not the owner of any trade secrets contained in the data.
2.3.1.8. The term of the contract is based on the terms of use agreed for the service and any other agreements made. The termination terms can be found in the terms of use or contract terms.
2.3.2. Solar.wattpilot app
The SolarWattpilot app is a cloud-based application (hereinafter referred to as the app) that can be used to monitor, analyse and control the Wattpilot and adjust its settings.
2.3.2.1. The product data of the networked Wattpilots mentioned above, which is generated when using these products, is transmitted directly to Fronius in real time when using the related service, which is cloud-based.
2.3.2.2. Storage: This product data is stored and retained in the app. Fronius may limit the storage and retention of this data at its own discretion.
2.3.2.3. Data access: Users can directly access the product and service data in this app; this requires a valid customer account or corresponding registration.
2.3.2.4. Purposes: The data available in the service is used by Fronius for the following purposes: product improvement, targeted advertising. This use is agreed with the respective user.
3. Networked products and related services of the Battery Charging Technology division
3.1. Battery Charging Technology products
The following battery charging technology products are designed as so-called IoT devices and are therefore subject to the European Data Regulation. When using these products, the following product data is generated:

3.2. Product Data
3.2.1. Selectiva chargers + gateway: The above types of product data are generated in real time when the chargers are used in combination with the Gateway product.
3.2.1.1. Data access and format: The product data can be accessed directly on the charger via a USB port. The product data is provided in CSV format.
3.2.1.2. Storage: The product data is stored on the charger – depending on the storage capacity and use of the product, different periods of time may apply for the storage of product data. Once the storage capacity is reached, older data is overwritten with newer data. If an additional digital service is used (such as Charge & Connect or another platform for visualising product data from a charger), real-time product data can also be accessed there and, in particular, stored for a longer period of time (depending on the digital service).
3.2.2. Product TagID
The product TagID is a battery sensor that can be attached to the battery. The above product data is generated in real time.
The real-time product data is not stored unless an additional digital service (from Fronius) is used. The product data can then be displayed in this service, where it has already been enriched and subjected to further analysis and calculations. It is not possible to provide raw data from the TagID product, as this is not stored and is therefore not (readily) available.
3.3. Related Services
3.3.1. Charge & Connect – data processing service
The "Charge & Connect" data processing service offered by Fronius provides intelligent management, analysis and statistics functions combined with graphical processing based exclusively on real-time product data transmitted from all chargers stored in the service. The networked chargers are fully functional even without Charge & Connect and can perform all product functions without the need for this data processing service. The generated product data can be accessed directly via the respective charger.
Charge & Connect with its functionalities is therefore essentially a data processing service that does not affect the operation of the networked product. Charge & Connect is therefore not a related service within the meaning of the Data Regulation.
