Waste separation campaign
Several aspects of waste are being explored across a number of communication channels over an extended period of time to make as many employees as possible aware of the issues. Articles on the intranet and posts on social media provide interesting facts and include tips about what each individual can do to help. At Fronius, 80% of material is recycled, reused, or composted. We favor using our own cups over paper ones for our coffee machines, which in turn also prevents waste. And speaking of coffee, there are a few things to take into account when disposing of coffee capsules to ensure that the valuable raw materials can be recycled. For example, did you know that:
- Aluminum is 100% recyclable and there are no limits to how often it can be reused?
- The process of recycling aluminum consumes up to 95% less energy than the production of primary metal?
- Aluminum retains its properties, regardless of how often it is recycled?
Prevent waste, even with your daily cup of coffee
Our coffee machines use biodegradable paper cups – but the only thing better than recyclable waste is no waste at all.
In this case, the solution comes in the form of employees’ own cups that replace disposable ones. There is another argument for employees to use their own cups that serves as an additional incentive on top of the environmental aspect: the machines automatically detect that they do not need to provide a cup, which reduces the price for employees. At Fronius, around 1,000,000 disposable cups are used at the various machines every year.
