Electrical Engineer – Production, Český Krumlov

Whether in Production, Technical Support, or the Repair Center, electrical engineering plays an important role in many departments at Fronius. Electrical engineers focus on process security, line technology, and final inspection. They find, analyze, and rectify faults, repair machines, maintain systems, and ensure that inverters, battery chargers, and welding systems are thoroughly inspected.

Electrical engineers at Fronius work at our Upper Austrian sites and are also deployed worldwide, including at our factory in Český Krumlov in the Czech Republic.

Jakub: I usually start my shift by checking the dosing system of the resin dispenser. I make sure that the quantity being dispensed is correct, there are no leaks, and the pressure is set correctly. If there are any deposits, I remove them. I then always take a sample for quality assurance, which is analyzed later.

The dosing machine is not the only appliance I work on though. We are responsible for all production lines and solve any technical problems that arise, from replacing parts to mechanical or electrical defects. The aim is always to avoid production downtimes, which also involves regular inspections of the machines and the parts produced.

Career path

How did you start out at Fronius?

Jakub: I found out about the vacancy from my mother. At the time, she was working as a shift supervisor in Production at Fronius. When the company was looking for an electrical engineer, she told me about it. I love working on cars and motors, so she thought I might like the job—and she was right. After the application process, I started in December 2021.

Why is your job the right one for you?

Jakub: I particularly like the variety in my job. Every day is different and I have a wide range of tasks, so I never get bored. As I’ve said, I also like tinkering with machines and appliances. In my spare time, I devote myself to my Volkswagen Transporter, which I’ve been working on for three years now. The practical skills that come into play here are also useful in my job. It keeps me in practice (laughs).

Everyday working life

What skills does someone in your position need?

Jakub: A technical mind is key. Although we have some routine tasks that we can practically do in our sleep, we also constantly face new technical challenges. You should not let this put you off, even if you are confronted with a defect for the first time.

If a problem arises, we always talk to the shift supervisors or team leaders to find the best solutions together. For example, it may make sense not to start the repair until after a batch has finished, as long as the quality is not impaired.

Personal insights

What do you appreciate in particular about Fronius as an employer?

Jakub: The 13th and 14th monthly salaries are great. This isn’t common in the Czech Republic and is a clear benefit compared to other companies here. Apart from that, there are also other things that speak in favor of Fronius: I have the best supervisors I’ve ever had here—and that really is a big plus.

What’s more, my colleagues and I work really well together. The shift model we use means I can easily fit personal errands around my work schedule, so it’s easy to balance my private life with my job.

What is your biggest professional challenge?

Jakub: My biggest challenge is still dealing with unexpected errors that I’ve never encountered before in this form. My induction phase ended up being very short due to personnel changes, which meant that I was soon on my own. However, so far that’s been OK, and if new problems do arise, an experienced colleague can always advise me. We always support each other when we need to.
