Forward-thinking: Fronius exceeds target of one billion euros in sales

Company

1/25/2023 / Wels/Pettenbach
Despite the difficult circumstances, Fronius had a successful year in 2022 and passed the one billion euros in sales mark for the first time in its history. 2023 promises to be another year of strong and sustainable growth for the company in which Fronius is planning to invest EUR 233 million to expand its manufacturing capacities.
North expansion Sattledt
The northern expansion of the Fronius production plant at Sattledt in Austria is already up and running.

“Fronius is investing heavily in additional production lines and new jobs, which will enable us to continue our successful and sustainable growth strategy,” Fronius CEO Elisabeth Engelbrechtsmüller-Strauß says of the current financial year. In 2022, we invested 187 million euros in the expansion and conversion of the production site at Sattledt (Austria) and in the site in Krumau (Czech Republic) and are planning to invest a further 233 million euros in 2023. Our manufacturing facilities are operating constantly at full speed. In Sattledt alone, we have increased the total manufacturing floor space significantly from 41,000 m² to 69,000 m². T

he energy crisis has further accelerated the already rapid growth in the photovoltaics business unit. Sustainable growth that is financed by the company itself is particularly important for Fronius as a company that is family owned and run.

Target of One Billion Euros in Sales Exceeded

“Our achievement of passing the one billion euros in sales mark in 2022 is particularly forward-looking in terms of Fronius’ growth strategy. Despite our strong growth, ensuring that all new Fronius team members are well integrated into the company is still a top priority for us. In 2022 alone, we had more than 1000 new hires and we are looking for another 1,300 new colleagues to join us before the end of 2023, with 800 of them located in Austria,” Elisabeth Engelbrechtsmüller-Strauß explains. The company is pleased to see that the particularly fast-growing Business Unit Solar Energy is not the only area to record strong growth, with excellent figures for the Business Units Perfect Welding and Perfect Charging too.

Even Fronius is not immune to global challenges such as unstable supply chains and shortages of components. However we have still been able to ensure continued supply and further expand our manufacturing. In 2022, a total of almost 32,000 inverters per month were produced. By the end of 2023, this should be more than 52,000 per month, an increase of more than 65 percent. This move enables us to cater to the high demand on the solar market and further expand our manufacturing capacities.
