How big should my battery be?

The correct storage capacity plays a key role in achieving maximum self-consumption, greater independence, and optimal efficiency from your PV system. 

The power consumption during the day must be taken into account. If family members are at home during the day and consuming electricity (such as working from home or running household appliances), a PV battery with a lower capacity is sufficient. If the home is mostly empty during the day, there is more surplus energy that can be stored for later.

As a general rule of thumb:

Average electricity consumption during the day
Annual electricity consumption in kWh / 1000 × 1.2 = storage capacity in kWh
Low electricity consumption during the day
Annual electricity consumption in kWh / 1000 × 1.5 = storage capacity in kWh
