More about the product

Planning & installation

Fronius Solar.creator is a free, flexible, and user-friendly online configuration tool for planning and designing PV systems.

Solar.creator supports you throughout all the phases of project planning and can be individually adapted to your requirements.

If you work with the PVsyst planning tool, you can easily download the required device data as an import file here to create precise simulation results.

With the Tauro Configurator, you can put together your individual Fronius Tauro Commercial inverter - perfectly matched to the requirements of your PV system. In just a few steps, you can select the right model along with your desired options and features, such as the arc fault circuit interrupter (AFCI) Fronius Arc Guard or 30 A string fuses. The result forms the starting point for creating quotes and orders.

System functions & integration

Fronius Solar.web

Fronius Solar.web is available in full as a desktop or app version for monitoring your Tauro inverters.

You can download the Solar.web app from your App Store and the Google Play Store on your smart device!

If there are any problems with the data transfer to Solar.web, please check our Help & solutions.

Simply download and keep an eye on all PV systems at all times.

When using a firewall for outgoing connections, the corresponding protocols, server addresses and ports must be enabled to ensure successful data transfer.

The complete list of connections to be enabled can be found here.

Fronius Tauro & Tauro ECO Plus inverters must not be connected to one another or to existing Solar.net rings via the RJ45 ports.
The LAN1 connection is used exclusively for network integration. The LAN2 connection currently has no function.

If Tauro or Tauro ECO inverters are installed alongside other Fronius inverters in a system, the Tauro devices must be connected to the Internet separately. All inverters can then be integrated into the same Solar.web system and displayed together.

Feed-in limit (zero feed-in)

Dynamic power reduction can be activated on the Tauro or Tauro ECO user interface under Safety and grid regulation - Feed-in limit. This makes it possible to limit the power fed into the grid and at the same time maximize direct self-consumption.

This function can also be used for zero feed-in systems.

Note: A Fronius Smart Meter is required in order to use this.

You can find a guide to the right solution to meet the grid operator’s requirements here.

Plant controllers & interfaces

Plant controllers are widely used in commercial PV systems and are essential in most cases. You can find more information about proven solutions with selected plant controller manufacturers in our solution sheet.

Fronius Tauro inverters have open interfaces that enable simple connection to a wide range of external components. The corresponding settings can be found directly on the user interface of the inverter under “Communication”.

Note on Modbus cabling (Fronius Smart Meter and plant controller): The Fronius Tauro has two Modbus inputs (M0 and M1), which are functionally equivalent. Both inputs can be used to connect Smart Meters and plant controllers. Please note that the terminating resistors must be set.

You can find the current list of compatible systems here.

Further information and instructions on the interfaces can be found on the Open interfaces page.

Smart Meter

With the Fronius Smart Meter, both the system data and the power consumption of the system can be recorded and used for intelligent energy management.

We recommend placing the Smart Meter at the feed-in point.

Further secondary meters can also be connected in order to visualize individual loads (Fronius Energy Profiling).

Help & solutions

Problems with data transfer to Fronius Solar.web If there are problems with data transfer to Solar.web, check our Internet Service Diagnosis.

Note: Fronius Tauro and Tauro ECO do not support 5 GHz WiFi. Use a 2.4 GHz WiFi network.

You can find step-by-step instructions on how to connect to the user interface in our digital instructions.
How-to video: Connecting to the GEN24/Tauro user interface

First download the appropriate firmware file from the downloads.

Our digital instructions then explain how to carry out the update via the user interface.

If a password for the local user interface has been forgotten, click on “Forgot password?” to generate a PIN for the user role (“Customer” or “Technician”). This PIN can be used to generate an activation code that enables the password to be re-registered.

Reset the “Customer” password:

  1. Go to your system in Fronius Solar.web with the generated PIN.
  2. Navigate to Settings → Components.
  3. Click “Actions” for the data source of the inverter and select “Reset customer password” to create the activation code for a new “Customer” password.

Note: The “Reset customer password” function can only be used by the owner of the Solar.web system. If this function is not visible, you are not entered as the owner. In this case, contact the installer of your system.

Reset the “Technician” password:

The “Technician” password is reserved for trained specialist personnel (electricians, system installers, Fronius System Partners). They can use the “Activation code” function in Fronius Solar.SOS to reset the password.

Important note:

The activation code is only valid as long as the corresponding PIN is displayed on the user interface. After restarting the inverter or after entering an incorrect activation code five times, a new PIN is generated. In this case, a new activation code must be generated.

Carry out the following steps to reconfigure the network after changes such as a router replacement, and to establish an Internet connection:

  1. Access the user interface of the inverter. The Setup wizard must be fully completed. If the wizard opens automatically when you call up the user interface, please close it.
  2. Navigate on the user interface to Communication → Network.
  3. Select the desired connection type: LAN or WiFi.- LAN: Select the Automatic or Staticsetting. Automatic is sufficient in most cases. Static may be mandatory in company networks. Contact the network administrator of your system for this.- WiFi: Select your home network under Available networks and enter the WiFi password. Then select Automatic or Static. Automatic is sufficient in most cases. Static may be mandatory in company networks. Contact the network administrator of your system for this.
  4. Click Connect to apply the settings.

Reasons for missing notification in the event of a device failure:

Sending service messages is deactivated

  1. Navigate to your system in Fronius Solar.web under Settings → Service messages.
  2. Click on Edit and check the Send service messages box.
  3. Specify the period of time after which you would like to be notified in the event of a failure.
  4. Confirm the settings with OK. No e-mail address stored for notifications

Navigate to your system in Fronius Solar.web under Settings → Contacts and check whether your e-mail is entered correctly. Click on your e-mail address and then on Edit. Check whether the Receive service messages box is checked.

Learn what steps can be taken to solve common issues when accessing the user interface.

Check the connection to the WiFi access point

The WiFi access point deactivates automatically 30 minutes after activation or when the network settings are changed. Some end devices also disconnect automatically if the internet connection is lost. Therefore, make sure that your end device (laptop, tablet, smartphone) is still connected to the inverter’s WiFi access point.

Connection via network security key (Windows 10)

Windows 10 devices automatically prompt you to enter a PIN code when connecting to a new WiFi network. In this case, select the option to enter a network security key instead. The network security key can be found on the rating plate on the side of the inverter. If no password is printed on the rating plate, the default value is 12345678. Check the IP address used- Access via WiFi access point: 192.168.250.181- Access via Ethernet: 169.254.0.180- When accessing via the home network, the local IP address that was dynamically assigned or statically set by the router must be used. Check LAN interface used When connecting via Ethernet, the LAN1 interface on the inverter must be used. LAN2 is currently not functional.

Delete browser cache and cookies

Problems with the display of the user interface or with the password prompt are often caused by saved browser data. Therefore, close the user interface, delete the cache and cookies for the entire period and then call up the user interface again. These are deleted in the browser settings. The procedure varies depending on the browser used.

Restart the inverter

If the user interface no longer responds, a restart may help:

1. Disconnect on the AC side (RCCB or automatic circuit breaker).

2. Disconnect on the DC side (switch on the inverter).

3. Leave the inverter switched off for approx. 30 seconds until all LEDs have gone out.

4. Then reconnect the AC and DC sides.

Install the latest software

Make sure that your inverter is up to date with the latest software version.
