iWave controls

The iWave models feature a user interfacewith a plain-text display in over 30 languages. All settings are displayedvisually and can be adjusted using the touchscreen or the rotary and pushbutton. The controls are designed for industrial environments and are easy touse even when wearing gloves.

Multiprocess PRO—one welding machine for every process

TIG, plasma, and MIG/MAG processes are available with the iWave 300i, 400i, or 500i and the Multiprocess PRO hardware option. In addition to all TIG functions, you have access to every process variant from the field of MIG/MAG welding.

You can build your own flexible, modular system using compatible peripheral components such as welding torches and wirefeeders. What’s more, the welding packages can be tailored specifically to your needs. Choose from Standard, Pulse, PMC, LSC, CMT, PMC AC, and CMT AC. Additive manufacturing is also an option with the iWave.

Connectivity and system integration

The iWave is designed as a networked welding system. Using standardized interfaces such as WiFi, Bluetooth, and NFC, you can integrate the device into existing environments, connect it to peripheral devices, and keep the operating system up to date. This transforms the iWave from a welding machine into an integral part of a coordinated system encompassing operating concept and user management to the integration of additional components.

RC Pedal TIG

  • For starting the welding process and controlling the welding current.

RC Panel Basic

  • For setting the welding and lowering currents.

Vizor Connect

  • When connected to the welding system, the welding helmet is darkened before the arc is ignited.

WeldConnect App

  • Step-by-step data capture of relevant information such as welding process, base material, weld seam profile, and shielding gas
  • Simple data entry via manual input or QR code scanning
  • Automatic calculation of optimal welding parameters for TIG and MIG/MAG applications

CycleTIG

For targeted heat input

CycleTIG is based on the principle of stitch welding. Compared to standard pulse welding it offers additional setting options and new parameter combinations for improved welding results.

  • Outstanding weld seam appearance
    Supported by the tacking function
  • Targeted heat input
Ideal for thin-sheet welding and edge applications
  • Easy weld pool control
No burn through, even on corner and butt welds
  • Fewer temper colors
    For sensitive application areas
  • Easy handling
    For clean weld seams

Stable and reproducible TIG ignition

The iWave significantly improves ignition behavior during TIG welding. We have optimized the HF ignition process and adapted it to suit various electrode diameters.

RPI auto* reduces ignition delays by up to 71%**

With the RPI auto function, the welding machine automatically adjusts the ignition settings. This ensures fast and reproducible ignitions, even under variable conditions or as ignition performance declines, without any manual intervention.

* Only for iWave AC/DC
** Compared to RPI off | Test series conducted under laboratory conditions: 200 A welding current / 0.5 s welding time / 1000 ignitions

Other iWave functions

Automatic cap-shaping
This function allows a cap to be formed very quickly based on the set electrode diameter, saving a great deal of time.
Starting and stopping the welding process
Ignite the arc with SoftStart, high frequency (HF), and Touch HF. Stop the welding process using TIG Comfort Stop and arc break voltage.
Quick and easy tacking
The TACKING function causes the weld pool to oscillate briefly at the beginning. As a result, you can tack your components together in a single step because the material of both edges merges beautifully, without burning the edges. Very little to no temper coloration occurs at the tacking points. What’s more, no filler metal is required—even with small air gaps of up to 1.5 mm.
Wave shapes
Weld with freedom with iWave, as it allows you to select the wave shapes yourself for AC welding. In other words, the ones that characteristically produce your preferred weld properties for the welding task at hand. If necessary, you can also combine different wave shapes.
Pulse settings
Settings for the pulse current and pulse frequency (up to 2 kHz) are included in the standard package. OPT/i Pulse Pro gives you an extended range of functions, including a base current setting, duty cycle setting, pulse frequency up to 10 kHz, and DC wave shape.
Tungsten electrode protection
The automatic gas post-flow ensures that the tungsten electrode and weld seam are protected by a gas shield, preventing oxidation. The gas post-flow time is calculated on the basis of the set welding current and electrode diameter. In addition, a warning is displayed in the event of electrode overload.
Increasing and decreasing the main current
For temporarily higher power output (e.g., for welding over tack welds), slow and controlled lowering of the current (e.g., when changing the filler metal), and a configurable UpSlope or DownSlope for the intermediate current and lowering current.
Synchronized welding
Smashing the challenge: our “Sync Mode” makes simultaneous two-sided TIG welding with alternating current easier than ever before. This is the ultimate welding challenge, which we have solved by automatically synchronizing both arcs. As a result, two welders can work together in perfect sync.
WeldCube
The innovative advantage of Fronius TIG DynamicWire compared to conventional continuous wirefeeding in cold wire systems lies in its automatic self-regulation. The welding machine actively adjusts the wire speed to the welding behavior, torch position, and current conditions.
