Off-grid solar systems
Standalone PV system for self-sufficient power supply

PV-Genset & MicroGrid: the solution for a stable independent energy supply
Whether in remote regions and communities, hotels, or on farms, not everywhere can rely on a stable public power supply. Our solar MicroGrid and PV-Genset backup systems are cost-effective and resource-conserving solutions that provide you with a reliable source of energy completely independently of the public grid.
PV-Genset: cut fuel and energy costs with photovoltaics
Solar meets diesel: in regions with an unstable public infrastructure, diesel generators are increasingly being used as a reliable backup option. Adding photovoltaics to this constellation can significantly increase efficiency and reduce fuel consumption. The Fronius PV-Genset systems ensure the optimum balance between solar power and diesel generators. The Solar Controller becomes the communication interface for the entire system, ensuring that the PV system can take over from the diesel generators as much as possible. This saves fuel, reduces energy costs, and ensures a stable and reliable power supply.
With the PV-Genset Advanced, PV systems can be easily and quickly integrated into existing systems in which several diesel generators are in use. The Advanced variant is ideally suited to low and medium-voltage applications.
The Fronius PV-Genset Professional impresses as an efficient overall solution that is perfect for multi-generator systems. Whether as a retrofit solution or a fully integrated system, the Fronius PV-Genset offers flexibility and is compatible with strong partners such as ComAp, DEIF, Elum, or Encombi

Solar MicroGrid: independent power grid with solar energy
A MicroGrid is a small, independent power grid that is powered by solar energy. It works either autonomously as a standalone solution or is connected to the public grid as a backup in the event of a blackout. Our Fronius inverters with integrated MicroGrid Setup guarantee stable MicroGrid operation.
The inverter supplies the MicroGrid with as much PV energy as possible. If the load is low, the batteries are full, or the Inverter-Charger can only charge a small amount, the PV output is automatically reduced. Such optimum control of the energy flow is ensured by the frequency controls of the Inverter-Charger and the Fronius inverter working together.
The energy generated is stored in batteries and made available automatically when required. Thanks to intelligent technology, the system adapts flexibly to your needs.
With an Inverter-Charger from Victron Energy (Victron MultiPlus, Victron Quattro), the Fronius MicroGrid Setup can be established without any additional configuration work being needed on the Fronius inverter.

Reliable solar energy for better healthcare in South Sudan
Remote location as the biggest challenge
At Nzara Hospital in South Sudan, a 120 kWp photovoltaic system from Fronius provides reliable electricity for the hospital’s operations. The system, which was expanded in 2023, was implemented together with FSTTN and MODE Electrical and is a sustainable means of improving medical provision in a region far from the public grid.
